Massive preparations have been made in the last few days for the tens of thousands of people who will visit the Western Wall of the Temple in Jerusalem's Old City between Monday evening and Wednesday evening. An estimated three quarters of a million people have visited the holy site. Extra conveniences have been built that will be in use through the week-long Sukkot (Tabernacles) holiday that begins next Sunday evening.

Chief Rabbis Shlomo Amar and Yonah Metzger, former chief rabbi Ovadia Yoseph and Rabbi Shmuel Rabinowitz of the Western Wall and Holy Places will be in attendance, Monday evening at 11:00 for the central recitation of Selichot penitential prayers ahead of Yom Kippur, which runs from Tuesday at sunset until dark on Wednesday.
