Speaking in an interview, Intelligence Affairs Minister Dan Meridor said Sunday that conflicts between Israel and the United States were not something Israel wanted. However, there had been such conflicts in the past. Meridor said that the alliance between Israel and the United States went beyond parties, ideologies, and institutions, and had not only security, but also economic implications.
Speaking on Israel Radio, Meridor said that Israel had had great success in bring the issue of Iran's nuclear arms program to the attention of the world, and the sanctions placed on Iran were forcing Tehran to take into account the concerns of the international community. With that, however, more action was needed, because Iran was continuing its nuclear program, Meridor added.
