Knesset members Arye Eldad and Michael Ben-Ari (National Union) came out, Tuesday morning, against the unity agreement signed, Monday evening between party chairman Ya'akov Katz and Naftali Bennett, a candidate to head the Bayit Yehudi (Jewish Home-National Religious Party).
Borrowing a line made famous by a sportscaster, the two said, in a statement, "That's not how you build unity. Unity is welcomed when it is not done in misrepresentation. It's an agreement between someone who has not yet been elected and has no authority, and someone who presents himself as the 'National Union' while he represents only himself and Member of Knesset [Uri] Ariel, who are exactly half of the National Union. Such a step, which was not done out of true unity, could cause a schism."
