UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon has strongly castigated the irresponsible lack of Security Council intervention in the Syrian crisis.

In an unofficial Council session, Ban said its paralysis was harmful to the Syrian people, and was also detrimental to the Council’s credibility. He added that the prolonged violence and civilian oppression in Syria could not be ignored.
