Report: Israel’s Hospitals on Verge of Collapse

Israel’s public hospitals are on the verge of collapse, Health Ministry chairman Roni Gamzu warned Tuesday, according to Channel 2 news. Gamzu reportedly told Deputy Health Minister Yaakov Litzman that the system is lacking more than one billion shekels.

“This lack can be seen in the sharp blow to payments to medicine providers, equipment providers,” he said. There is no time to spare, he added, urging Litzman to sign an agreement “before the holidays” to address the issue.
