The 2012 Jerusalem Sacred Music Festival will open on Thursday. Different musical performances will take place featuring spiritual music from the Jewish tradition as well and many other world religions.
The Tower of David Museum in the Old City of Jerusalem will serve as a central meeting point for the various shows. The festival organizers stated, "The festival venues were meticulously selected to ensure that their historic and symbolic characteristics reflect the spirit of the performances... Designed especially for the festival, a massive drum will be installed on the roof of the museum. Musicians will take turns playing the drum throughout the entire 24 hours to provide a steady, rhythmic pulse for the festival as a whole."
