For the first time, the Emergency Response Diver International group (ERDI) is training divers with the Israeli response group ZAKA. The first group of students is currently finishing a grueling training process that will qualify them as search-and-rescue divers.

ZAKA’s volunteer divers are on call 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, sources in the organization said. “Between the stories that make the news there are numerous quiet, private real incidents where a family loses a loved one in the sea or a body of water,” the group said.
