An orthopedic surgeon from Asuta Medical center has lost his license for 15 months and was dismissed following having operated on the wrong thigh of a patient requiring joint replacement surgery in April 2005.
According to Health Ministry inquiry findings, “The negligent surgeon did not mark the correct leg with ink, and left the operating theater to get something from his car until the patient was anesthetized. Later, he tried to blame her for his mistake.” (Israel Today)
