Demonstration for Foundation Stone Monday Afternoon

The Lehava group of youth volunteers from the central branch of the Bnei Akiva religious youth group in Rishon Letzion has scheduled a demonstration for 4:30 Monday afternoon on the Tayelet (promenade) across from the Armon Hanatziv neighborhood in Jerusalem, to protest the government's refusal to take any action against renovations on the Temple Mount which have led to the placing of scaffolding on the Foundation Stone in the Holy of Holies. According to Jewish belief, the Foundation Stone is the rock on which the world was founded, and the complete disregard for the sanctity of the site is harming an important Jewish Israeli symbol.

Ma'ayana Anael Kalif told Arutz Sheva's Hebrew journal, Sunday afternoon, that she and fellow Lehava member Yarden Porat have been addressing the issue with political parties and other groups since the beginning of summer vacation only to be told the other groups cannot do anything. She added that they were moved to schedule the demonstration after reading in Yisrael Hayom that the situation is expected to continue.
