Modest Gains for Tel Aviv Stocks in Mixed Trading

Most of the indices on the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange opened the trading week, Sunday, with modest to sharp gains. The TA Composite Index closed at 977.69, up .39 percent, while the TA 100 rose .47 percent to 986.62, including a .62 percent hike by the Maof 25 most-widely-invested issues.

Leading the way were the insurance stocks, which finished the day at 748.00, up 2.55 percent, as the financial institutions advanced 1.68 percent to 756.49, including a closing posting by the bank index of 846.08, up 1.39 percent. The oil and natural gas issues jumped 2.02 percent to 936.38, followed by most of the technology stocks, which finished the day at 351.62, up 1.64 percent, while the biomed index declined .98 percent to 707.21 The real estate issues rose 1.13 percent to 236.79, while the communications and media stocks fell a percent and a half to 414.49.
