Many are expected to visit the grave of Rabbi Yosef Shalom Elyashiv in Jerusalem’s Har Hamenuchot cemetery to mark the end of the “shloshim,” the 30-day period of mourning after a death. Many believe that prayers are particularly powerful when said at the gravesite of a righteous person.
There will also be events worldwide marking the day, with speakers recalling Rabbi Elyashiv and urging the public to follow in his path.
