MKs from numerous parties criticized the government's plan to increase the priced of subsidized bread next week. Bread under government price control is set rise by 6.53% next Monday.

MK Nachman Shai said that the “most anti-society government in Israel's history is once again spitting in the face of the weakest Israelis. The decision to increase the price of bread shows a clear desire to ignore the needs of those who cannot afford fne foods daily. Not only are there no circuses, there is now no bread,” Shai said, drawing upon the famous saying describing the “bread and circuses” of Roman society.
