Following Saturday’s 6.4 and 6.3-magnitude quakes in the Iranian regions of Tavbriz and Ahar that left over 250 dead and over 2,000 injured, relief efforts of shelter, bread, water and medical aid distribution are under way. The search for survivors under the rubble was rapid and efficient, as the villagers knew each other very well, and the houses were small.
According to FARS news agency, about 110 villages were damaged, among them 4 that were flattened, with some 60 others having sustained heavy damage. (BBC)
