A major meteor shower will be seen in the skies over Israel Sunday night. The meteor shower will begin around 11:30 PM and continue through sunrise, with the height of the shower at around 3 AM. Scientists said that it was likely that Israelis throughout the country will be able to see between 40 and 60 meteors fall each hour.

The annual Perseid meteor shower, which occurs each year on August 12, is the result of the regular passage of the Swift-Tuttle comet.
