An Australian plane is expected to make an emergency flight to Antarctica this week, in order to evacuate an American researcher in need of urgent surgery, as reported by American authorities.
The US Science Foundation says the flight will land at the Pegasus airstrip near the Foundation-run McMordo station. Weather conditions may hamper efforts.
