A 54-year-old Hadassah Ein Karem Medical Center lymphoma patient who underwent an unsuccessful bone marrow transplant was in her final moments with a low red and white blood cell and platelet count. Thanks to a miraculous last-resort experimental placenta stem cell transplant that stimulated the dormant stem cells from the bone marrow transplant, her blood count increased to a point where she was released home following quarantine.
The Haifa-based Pluristem Biomedical company carried out the fortuitous transplant.
