Communications giant Inmarsat, which supplies maritime satellite communication services, admitted over the weekend that it has been doing business with Iran. The relationship between the company and the government of Iran was revealed by the Israel Law Center (Shurat Hadin). The organization's investigators discovered 27 ships in ports around the world that were linked to Iran, although they were disguised as belonging to other countries flying foreign flags.
Doing business with Iranian-linked ships is a violation of United States and international sanctions against Tehran. These ships are blacklisted by the United States, and Inmarsat will be subject to penalties for violating the sanctions, Shurat HaDin said.
