Two people tried to light themselves on fire on Tuesday, apparently as a protest against the economic situation in Israel. In Jerusalem a man tried to ignite his body in front of the Bituach Le'umi (National Insurance Institute) building. He had doused his body with flammable material. An alert policeman stopped the man and took him in for questioning. A similar scenario took place earlier at the Bituach Le'umi office in Kfar Saba.
The two incidents on Tuesday makes a total of 8 attempts at self-immolation incidents within a month's time. The incidents were allegedly to protest poverty, debt and economic woes.
