Speaking at Sunday's cabinet meeting, Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu called the self-immolation of Moshe Silman “a tragedy. I wish him a speedy recovery. I have asked the Welfare and Housing ministers to investigate the situation.”
Opposition leader MK Shelly Yechimovich said that Silman set fire to himself at a protest in Tel Aviv Saturday night because of the “cruel toughness” of the authorities who refused to help him with housing and other needs. “Along with the sadness and concern, we must remember that suicide is a radical step, and we should not take his action as an example for others,” Yechimovich said.
