Jewish Home Chairman, Minister of Science and Technology Rabbi Prof. Daniel Hershkowitz, admitted on Tuesday that his party abandoned Israel’s periphery in recent years.
Speaking during a visit with activists in the southern Israeli town of Netivot, Hershkowitz said, “Unfortunately, the party abandoned the outlying towns in recent years to parties like Shas and Likud. I was here in Netivot throughout my term in office, I instructed the government to allocate maximum resources to the periphery and we have achieved so much in other localities such as Beit Shean, Maalot, Ashkelon, Sderot, Kiryat Malachi, Migdal Haemek, Yeruham and more.”
He added, “This combination of central Israel and the periphery, of old and young, new immigrants, Torah core groups and yeshiva students is a winning combination.”
