Sudan: No Arab Spring Here

Minister of Tourism, Mohamed Abdel Rahman Hassabo of Sudan said, Thursday, that it is impossible to compare the country's recent protests against austerity measures to other recent protests in the Middle East. Hassabo said, "There is no 'Arab Spring' in Sudan". He added that these are "normal" protests and that he doubts that the Sudanese will be inspired by coups in Egypt and Libya.

At the beginning of the week, an adviser to  President Omar Al-Bashir said that "Zionist institutions" were behind the protests against his regime.
