Taking a cue from other markets around the world on Friday, the featured indices on the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange posted moderate to sharp increases at the end of a slow trading day on Sunday. The TA Composite Index closed at 980.98, up 2.05 percent, while the TA 100 jumped 2.08 percent to 990.06, including a 2.33 percent climb to 1,082.29 by the Maof 25 most-widely-invested issues. The 50 stocks just below the TA 100 finished the day at 352.62, up 2.22 percent.
Leading the way was the bank index, which advanced 4.52 percent to 873.96 as the financial institutions closed at 794.45, up 3.02 percent, including a 1.24 percent increase to 847.73. Next came the communications and media issues, which ended the day at 399.18, up 2.68 percent, followed by the real estate stocks, which rose 2.49 percent to 261.67. The oil and natural gas issues closed at 1,107.37, up 2.28 percent, followed by the Maala organization's Social Responsibility Index, which rose 2.26 percent to 716.15. The biomed index finished the day at 714.00, up 1.69 percent, while the rest of the technology stocks advanced 1.63 percent to 357.27.
