The Health Ministry issued a rabies warning for the Lower Galilee village of Kish, Sunday, following the discovery of the disease, last weekend in a cow there. With visitors to the area in mind, the ministry asked those who were in the area or had children or animals in the area between June 14th and 28th who may have been in contact with or been attacked by stray animals to urgently contact the health office in Tiberias at 04 671 0300 or their closest health office. After hours, they should contact their nearest hospital emergency room. Dog owners should check their animals' vaccination status.
The ministry said those who are bitten or scratched by animals should wash their wounds with soap and running water, and apply disinfectant, then go to a health facility to determine if there is a need for rabies treatment.
