Hundreds Try to Block Jerusalem Light Rail

About 200 people tried to block the Jerusalem light rail, Sunday evening, at Zion Square. Police arrived on the scene and returned the activists to the sidewalks. Train service resumed. A number of arrests were reported when the demonstrators refused to disperse.

A demonstration has been called for 6:00 p.m. Thursday at city hall to protest the planned cancellation of bus lines leaving the northern Jerusalem neighborhood of Pisgat Ze'ev to encourage light rail use. Organizers claim they have permits for the demonstration.
