Egyptian officials Monday said that former president Hosni Mubarak was in a coma. His health has continued to deteriorate after he was transferred to prison several weeks ago.

A spokesperson for Egypt's Interior Ministry said that it appeared to be just a matter of time before Mubarak passes away. “Mubarak's sons have asked if they could remain by their father's side, and their request was granted. He has high blood pressure, trouble breathing, and an irregular heart,” the spokesperson said.
