Attorney General Yehuda Weinstein says the political echelon determines priorities in implementing administrative demolition orders in Judea and Samaria, according to a Monday morning report by Kol Yisrael government radio. Among other things, according toWeinstein,the political leadershipmay take into account,the location ofthe illegalstructure,theconstructiondateand the timeelapsedfrom itsbuildingtothe issuingof the demolition orders.
The radio station received a copy of the Attorney General's legal opinion, which was written before last week's Knesset defeat of legislation intended to save five buildings in the Ulpana neighborhood of Beit El, whose families must leave by July 1st. Weinstein wrote that while the buildings in Beit El must be destroyed, nine building in the nearby community of Ofra, also built on land claimed by Arabs, are not to be destroyed, at least not now.
