Yesh Din Boycotting Committee on Yesha Authorization

The leftist organization Yesh Din, which is behind a number of petitions against Jewish building in Judea and Samaria (Shomron), has decided to boycott a government-appointed committee, headed by former Supreme Court Justice Edmond Levy, that is examing the status of land in the area in order to prevent demolitions of as-yet unauthorized Jewish holdings. Summoned to testify before the panel, Yesh Din's public council submitted a letter in which they said the purpose of the committee is to bypass the Attorney General and State Prosecutor, so its establishment violates the principle of rule of law.

Among those serving on the public council is Talia Sasson, who wrote a report to former prime minister Ariel Sharon, calling for the demolition of a number of unauthorized Jewish holdings in the region. The letter is based on the perception that the committee was established to "find ways to retroactively legalize the establishment of outposts and illegal construction in the settlements."
