Shas Ministers to Vote for Authorization Bill

Chairman Eli Yishai of the Sephardic hareidi-religious Shas party announced, Sunday evening, that ministers from the party intend to vote on Wednesday in favor of a bill to authorize as-yet unauthorized communities in Judea and Samaria (Shomron), even if coalition discipline demands that they vote against the measure.

Residents of the Ulpana (religious girls high school) Neighborhood in Beit El, who stand to avoid being uprooted by virtue of the legislation, welcomed the announcement. They said, "This will prevent an injustice and a terrible stain from the State of Israel."
