A-G: Speed Up Law to Help Police Deal With Knifings

Attorney General Yehuda Weinstein asked Chairman David Rotem of the Knesset Constitution, Law and Justice Committee, Thursday, to expedite the legislative process for an amendment to the law which should improve the ability of police to deal with the phenomenon of knife-related crimes, which has been prominent in recent weeks.

Under the amendment, police would be given the authority to check a person's belongings, even if the person was not suspected of a crime, at entertainment centers and other places where crowds gather, as defined, in advance, as places where there is increased concern of violence.
