Police Raid Beitar Ilit Schools for Fraud

Jerusalem police on Sunday raided three educational institutions in Beitar Ilit, on suspicion that they cheated the government of millions of shekels, receiving payments for students who were not actually enrolled in the schools. Police seized documents and records, computers, and cash, along with late-model vehicles that were registered to teachers and administrators. Five people were arrested, and further arrests are expected.

In a statement, school administrators said that they were innocent, and that they expected to be exonerated of all charges.
