Member of Knesset Uri Ariel (National Union Party) responded to the incident on Tuesday in which Meretz party members clashed with police near Beit El. He said that Meretz wore "a badge of shame" and accused them of trying to "break the routine lives of civilians." Police prevented the Meretz members from entering the city limits.
Meretz announced that they wished to visit the Ulpana neighborhood to protest the delaying of the demolition to five apartment buildings. The Jewish populated buildings in question were built on land purchased from an Arab man who claimed to be the legal heir. That claim as later challenged in court by a relative of the Arab man. This led the Supreme Court to call for the buildings to be evicted.
