President Shim'on Peres hosted a reception, Thursday evening, for ambassadors and consuls in honor of Israel's 64th birthday as a modern state. Also taking part were military attaches, leaders of Middle East peacekeeping forces, ethnic leaders and other high-ranking guests.
During remarks to the gathering, Peres stressed the importance of speeding up the diplomatic process with the Palestinian Authority and changes in the region.
