Petach Tikva Learns Torah in Memory of Fallen

The 12th annual all-night Torah learning session in memory of fallen IDF soldiers was held Tuesday night in Petach Tikva. Chief Ashkenazi Rabbi Yona Metzger attended the first stages of the event and called to institute similar programs throughout the country.

Organizers explained that the overnight program has three stages. In the first stage, beginning with the nighttime siren and continuing to midnight, the general public – youth, soldiers, bereaved families and more – mourns, lights candles, prays, and remembers fallen soldiers’ lives. From midnight to dawn participants learn parts of the Mishna and youth group members discuss current events from a Torah perspective.

During the day, elementary school students join the event, learning in soldiers’ memories and praying for recovery for wounded soldiers, and safety for those currently in action.
