Speaking Sunday, Science Minister Professor Daniel Hershkowitz said that there was “no way” that the Givat Ha'ulpana neighborhood in Beit El would be evacuated. The High Court has demanded that the neighborhood be demolished this week. Hershkowitz said that “if we do not succeed in stopping the evacuation, the coalition will come to an end, and elections will be called. This is no time for talk, we need action,” he said.
At the request of Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu, ministers are meeting Sunday to discuss a solution for Givat Ha'ulpana in Beit El. The High Court has ordered the neighborhood demolished, but a majority of ministers are opposed to the move. Defense Minister Ehud Barak, who has the final say on the neighborhood's fate, will not be participating in the discussion, as he is abroad.
