Public Shows Support for IDF Commander

More than 19,000 people have signed a petition stating their support for Lt.-Col. Shalom Eisner, who has been harshly criticized since he was photographed hitting an anarchist protester with his gun. “In a moral country,” the petition begins, “Lt.-Col. Shalom Eisner would have been up for an award…. Eisner took control of the situation and restored the IDF’s deterrence.”

“It’s true that even in war there are rules, and displays of power must have their limits, but hitting a protester after many warnings, when he keeps on approaching the soldiers in a threatening manner over and over, is not immoral!” it adds. The petition ends, “In the future, left-wing activists from abroad will know that Israel isn’t a summer camp for the bored, and that doing damage to Israel’s security is likely to hurt.”
