Lt.-Col. Shalom Eisner is a hero, says Hagit Rhein, whose son Benaya was killed in the Second Lebanon War. Eisner risked his life to retrieve Benaya’s body, she related.
Eisner has been in the news in recent days after a picture emerged of him striking an anarchist protester. Rhein criticized the rush to judge Eisner. “We are not angels, sometimes people make mistakes… [but] if my children had to go to war, I’d want them to have a commander like Shalom,” she said.
