IDF Radio Impressed by Gush Etzion, Hevron Area Jews

Senior show hosts, reporters, producers and editors of Israel Defense Forces Radio visited the Gush Etzion and Hevron areas, Thursday, as part of the "Let's Get Acquainted" program of the Yesha Council of Jewish communities in Judea and Samaria. Council Chairman Danny Dayan told the visitors that the presence of Jews in the region was intelligent and without it, the state of Israel was in danger, explaining as a secular Jew, "Israel has no future as a Jewish state without a connection to our roots, which are here."

Sheikh Abu-Khadr Jabri, the Mukhtar of Hevron, spoke of a special peace pact between the Jews and Arabs of the city. Asked by IDF Radio's Razi Barkai about the Palestinian Authority,  the mukhtar said the Oslo Accords were a serious mistake because no individual Arab had the right to cede any of it and there was no reason to sign an agreement  before love between the parties replaced hate. Barkai said he found the people to be charming, modest and making a contribution, even if he saw their presence as a problem for Israel's future. Fellow show host Yael Dan echoed his sentiments, saying it was important to see what's going on in the field.
