455 Million Cubic Meters of Water to Agriculture

The Water Authority Council voted unanimously, Thursday, to allocate 455 million cubic meters of water to agriculture.

Speaking before the panel, Secretary-General Avshalom Vilan of the Israeli Farmers' Association had demanded that the council stand by the original agreement that the authority committed to in December in spite of this year's above-average rainfall. He welcomed the council's decision and said he hopes that in the coming years, when desalination of sea water grows significantly, there will be no need for ceilings and farmers will be able to obtain all the water they need at a fair price.
