Ambassador Christophe Bigot told the Knesset Immigration Absorption and Diaspora Committee, Tuesday, that following Monday's murder of four Jews - three of them children - outside a Toulouse synagogue, "The shock in France is great," labelling the killing as "barbaric". Noting the increase in security at Jewish institutions and the suspension of the presidential campaign, he added, "This case isnotonlya crime againstthe victims,it's a crimeagainst democracyandagainstthe common valuesofIsraelandFrance.
Bigot noted, "Last yearwas the yearwiththe leastanti-Semitic incidentsin Francein the last decade." Committee Chairman Danny Danonresponded "All over the worldthere are fewercases, butthe severity of the incidentsincreases every year."
