1,000 Syrians Flee to Turkey in 24 Hours

An official source in Turkey said, Thursday, that about a thousand Syrian refugees crossed the border into his country in the last 24 hours, against the backdrop of continued fighting in the northern Syrian city of Idlib. The source estimated that the trend will continue as long as the fighting does.

Last week, the government in Ankara estimated that 200-300 Syrians crossed the border each day. The total number of Syrian refugees in Turkey is now believed to stand at 14,000, along with another 2,000 who are staying with relatives in Turkey and are not registered.
