Over 100 new immigrants to Israel (olim) gathered at Beit Leni in Tel Aviv to prepare, pack and send Purim gift baskets to "lone soldiers" who serve in the Israel Defense Forces. The new Israelis recently made Aliyah through the Nefesh B’Nefesh organization in cooperation with the Ministry of Immigrant Absorption and the Jewish Agency.
The event was initiated through a mutual collaboration between Nefesh B’Nefesh and the Friends of the IDF as part of a program that provides support for the lone soldiers. Such soldiers are mostly new immigrants who are in Israel alone without any family members. In total, hundreds of Purim gift baskets were packed and sent out.
Nefesh B’Nefesh Vice Chairman Erez Halfon stated, “This event is part of our continuous support for the Lone Soldiers in the IDF to show them that we admire their courageous decision to make Aliyah and serve in the Israeli army. Our main goal is to give the soldiers the feeling that they are not alone and I hope that these Purim gift baskets let the soldiers know that we are always here for them.”
