The government and IDF must work now to deter terrorist kidnappings, Noam Shalit said Tuesday at the Jerusalem Conference. “Israel must do whatever necessary to make terrorist groups afraid to carry out kidnapping attacks,” he said.
Terrorist groups have expressed increased interest in kidnapping soldiers and civilians in recent months.
Shalit previously told the audience that his family had not called to release terrorists in exchange for his son Gilad Shalit, who was freed in exchange for more than 1,000 terrorist prisoners. The family simply called for Shalit’s release, he said, adding, “It’s impossible to convince any parent to give up his son.”
