Most of the indices on the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange closed the week's first session with moderate to sharp losses in mixed trading on Sunday. The TA Composite index declined 1.78 percent to 971.07, while the TA 100 finished the day at 981.44, down 1.84 percent, including a 2.26 percent drop to 1,072.80 by the Maof 25 most-widely-held issues.
Worst hit were the bank stocks, which fell 4.07 percent to 920.95, as the financial institutions slumped 2.45 percent to 848.98 despite a three-quarters of a percent gain by the insurance index. The oil and natural gas stocks closed at 1,163.32, down 3.84 percent, and the communications/media issues declined 3.48 percent to 650.40. The real estate index finished the day at 273.96k, down 1.88 percent and the biomed stocks declined 1.88 percent, while the rest of the technology issues rose .39 percent to 294.97.
