Katzav Claims New Evidence

Former president Moshe Katzav applied to the Supreme Court, Thursday, to admit video and still photography in evidence against his conviction and seven-year prison term for rape, sexual assault and obstruction of justice. Defense Attorney Yoram Sheftel said the photography shows that Katzav was either surrounded by bodyguards or with his mother at the time a complainant known as Aleph said he raped her.

The Tel Aviv District Court, where Katzav was tried, had ruled that Katzav's claims about the bodyguards and his mother were lies. Sheftel said there is also cellphone evidence that supports Katzav's claims.
