Cave of Patriarchs and Rachel's Tomb Regulary Financed

Cabinet Secretary Tzvi Hauser made it clear,Tuesday morning, that the Me'arat Hamachpelah Cave of the Patriarchs in Hevron and Rachel's Tomb, between Jerusalem and Bethlehem, are both on the state's list of national heritage sites and are budgeted on an ongoing basis. Hauser said that said heritage sites that appeared on the agenda of the morning's ministerial committee meeting on the subject are the only sites funded within the special budget of the heritage program.

The cabinet secretary was responding to the demands of committee member Daniel Hershkowitz that the two sites be included, against the impression that they were not added to the list in 2011. The Palestinian Authority has applied to the United Nations Educational Scientific and Cultural Organization to have the sites recognized as Muslim heritage sites.
