Contract-Labor Talks Break Up: General Strike Sought

The Histadrut Labor Federation will ask the National Labor Court, Tuesday, to authorize a general strike on the issue of contract labor. The union is seeking to eliminate the use of personnel agencies to keep employers from paying social benefits and giving job security to workers.

Talks between Histadrut Chairman Ofir Eini and representatives of the government and private sector broke up without results, Monday evening, after the government refused to accept the union's demand that contract laborers be absorbed onto government payrolls.
