Rabbi Shimon Gabai of Netanya, a major figure in bringing Jews to renewed observance of their religion, passed away suddenly, Sunday evening at the age of 63. The rabbi was taking part in a rabbinical conference in the north. He apparently collapsed, shortly after midnight. Rescue teams were unsuccessful in their attempts at resuscitation.
The funeral is scheduled to leave from the Tiferet Moshe yeshiva, which Rabbi Gabai headed, at 1:30 p.m. He will be laid to rest at the Shikun Vatikim cemetery, according to Yeshiva World News.
