As Israel's population increases due to birthrate and immigration, Interior Minister Eli Yishai, presented Tuesday a new report that indicates that 50,000 new housing units were authorized in 2011. Minister Yishai presented his report in the Knesset to the National Housing Commission. The report confirmed that in 2011 about 50,000 housing units were authorized. 29,000 housing units can be put on the market immediately. Interior Ministry statistics show that a significant increase in the number of housing units approved in 2011.
