Algeria’s Foreign Minister, Mourad Medelci, said on Wednesday that Syria had taken steps to defuse the crisis in the country.

Speaking at news conference in the United Nations, Medelci said, “Syria has taken several measures to quell the crisis in the country. Thousands of prisoners have been released, though there remain many more the Syrian government should release.”
