The ministers of finance and public safety signed two memoranda of understanding, Monday. One will tie the retirement benefits of police and prisons service pensioners to the cost of living. The other will bring about changes in pay for police and jailers.
Chairman Chaim Katz of the Knesset Labor, Welfare and Health Committe welcomed the signing, saying it corrected an injustice to the pensioners in these fields. He said the committee will do all it can to put the changes into law as quickly as possible. He called on the treasury to give those on active duty an advance of 2,000 shekels.
